What company were you an intern at and how did you find out about it?

I was an intern at Le Singe Media who create animation for broadcast and online. I found out about the post after applying for a job I found posted on the Wired Sussex website. The position had already been filled, but I was informed of the opportunity to become an intern with a view to becoming a trainee animator.

What were the reasons you went for an internship?

I went for an internship as I’d just finished a degree in Illustration at the University of Brighton and was looking for an opening in the creative industry. As experience is essential in any job, I knew that the internship would be beneficial to my career.

What were your duties and what experience did you take away with you?

I was allowed to create short animations and help with editing and this improved my skills greatly in this period. I also learnt about different video formatting options and TV standards that have proved to be essential.

What did the internship lead on to afterwards?

I was offered a position at the company as an animator at the end of my internship, using the skills I learnt during this time to progress quickly.

Would you recommend an internship to others?

I would definitely recommend an internship to anyone looking to get into the creative industry. Even if you do not directly get a permanent position, the experience can only ever be beneficial in looking for employment in the future.
